WSIS Forum Recognizes Role of ICTs in Smart Climate Monitoring, Post-2015 Agenda[viewed]

Participants at the annual World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum agreed on outcome documents that highlight discussions on, inter alia: smart climate change monitoring; women's empowerment; information and communication technologies (ICTs) innovations and standards; and cyberspace security. Participants also considered ICTs and post-2015 goals, reviewed the Implementation of the WSIS Outcomes and produced a Statement on the WSIS+10 Visioning.

MY World Voters Prioritize Education, Health Care, Good Government[viewed]

The latest results of the MY World survey identify a good education, better health care and an honest and responsive government as the top three priorities for citizens around the world. Over 560,000 citizens from 194 countries have selected six of 16 issues that would make the most difference to their lives through MY World, a UN global options survey developed by the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Millennium Campaign, the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) and the World Wide Web Foundation.

Report on Strengthening ECOSOC Highlights Need for "Transformative Vision"[viewed]

UN Secretary-General Reports on Mainstreaming Sustainable Development in UN System[viewed]

The UN General Assembly (UNGA) and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) have issued an advance unedited copy of the 'Report of the Secretary-General on mainstreaming of the three dimensions of sustainable development throughout the United Nations system.' The report responds to a mandate from the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), for the UN Secretary-General to report to the UNGA, through ECOSOC, on the progress made on this topic.
